Exercise with Oxygen Therapy (EWOT) is an exercise system in which the oxygen concentrations can be changed while a person exercises. It can be beneficial for:
-
Sports Training
-
Sports Recovery
-
Chronic Fatigue
-
CIRS
Changing oxygen concentration during exercise provides higher intensity workouts at a slower pace. Slowing the pace reduces stress on connective tissue while still getting the aerobic benefit and increased lactate threshold of a higher intensity workout. By changing the flow of oxygen, EWOT can also create High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) sessions without added stress to the body.
EWOT has proven effective in a variety of athletic training programs. Combined with altitude contrast training (simulating changing altitudes during a single exercise session) and HIIT intervals, individuals can also pre-acclimatize to higher elevations. Regular EWOT with altitude contrast training has proven highly beneficial for athletes as it allows for multiple HIIT workouts per week.
EWOT for Sports Recovery
Just like hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), EWOT is also an easy tool to use for recovery from long endurance and high intensity activities that create muscle soreness.
EWOT for Cognitive Performance
Recent observational and small controlled trials also show increased cognitive performance and short term memory enhancement during and after EWOT. In the setting of moderate to severe chronic fatigue syndrome, EWOT has been found to be a useful tool. After 4-6 sessions of EWOT, people with chronic fatigue syndrome are able to build the intensity to a point where they can begin to exercise on their own.
EWOT for CIRS
For patients who have chronic fatigue caused by Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) from either Lyme or Mold, EWOT along with VIP nasal spray under a specified step protocol, can reverse the symptoms of chronic fatigue, brain fog, and cognitive dysfunction.
